Bayou Boot Recruiting Showcase: A New Era in Athletic Excellence

This historic event, in partnership with Shreveport Park and Recreation Center and The OneMindSet Foundation, is set to revolutionize the way North Louisiana and Texarkana athletes are seen on the national stage.

Unprecedented Opportunities Await

For the first time ever, a grassroot organization has teamed up with Shreveport's municipal powers to host a recruiting showcase at an iconic Black high school. Co-hosted by notable alumni such as Adrian Manning from Grambling State and Chanse Sylvie from the University of Oklahoma, this event promises athletes exclusive scouting opportunities, expert panels on NIL, branding, NCAA compliance, and a chance to shine in front of national recruiting profiles including 24/7, Rivals, and On3.

Detailed Itinerary for the Bayou Boot Recruiting Showcase

Early Morning Setup

  • 5:55 AM: Arrive at Booker T. Washington High School (BTW).
  • 6:00 AM: Begin the day-of setup, including signage, registration desks, and athletic stations.
  • 6:05 AM: Finalize setup details to ensure everything is ready for the participants.

Registration and Testing

  • 7:55 AM: Staff and volunteers prepare for participant arrival.
  • 8:00 AM: Registration opens. Campers:
    • Sign in and receive a color bracelet and name tag.
    • Get weighed, have their height and hand measurements taken.
    • Pick up camp clothes and join a designated group.
  • Groups Forming: Once 30 campers gather, they form a group. A total of 10 groups are planned, each starting their testing as they are formed.
  • Testing Flow:
    • Stretch with Coach Donald.
    • Execute the Broad Jump
    • Take the Vertical Jump Test 
    • Run the 40 Yard Dash (Three stations, allowing for 10 participants per station).
    • Complete the 5-10-5 Drill.
    • Perform the L Drill.
  • Detailed Timing Goals: Each group completes their drills in under 10 minutes.
    • 8:15 AM: First group finishes registration and begins stretching.
    • 8:25 AM: This group starts the drills.
    • 9:00 AM: This group finishes all drills.
    • Subsequent Groups: Each new group begins stretching and drills approximately 15-20 minutes apart.
    • Last Group Timing: Begins stretching around 9:30 AM, starts drills around 9:50 AM, and finishes by about 10:24 AM.

Post-Testing Activities

  • 10:30 AM: Coaches gather at the OneMindSet tent to discuss the next steps.
  • 10:35 AM: Coaches are assigned to specific areas for the upcoming drills.
  • 10:40 AM: Players are divided by wristband color to go to their respective position coaches.
  • 10:45 AM: NFL Combine drills begin with position coaches.
  • 11:10 AM: Water break.
  • 11:15 AM: Players begin 1-on-1 position specific training.
  • 11:50 AM: Water break.
  • 11:55 AM: Transition into 1-on-1 drills.
  • 12:00 PM: 1-on-1 drills commence.
  • 12:30 PM: Announcement for the last 10 minutes of 1-on-1 drills.
  • 12:40 PM: Players break into groups for a panel discussion.
  • 12:45 PM: Panel discussion starts, focusing on life skills and athlete development.
  • 12:50 PM: Awards ceremony begins, recognizing standout performances and efforts.
  • 12:55 PM: Photo session for all participants.
  • 12:58 PM: Campers begin exiting in groups of 30 to pick up boxed food.
  • 1:00 PM: Camp concludes.

This structured schedule ensures that each participant has a comprehensive, productive, and enjoyable experience, providing optimal exposure to scouts and offering insightful education on important athletic and life skills.

What to Bring and Know for the Bayou Boot Recruiting Showcase

Welcome to the Bayou Boot Recruiting Showcase!

We are excited to have you join us for a day packed with athletic drills, expert panels, and networking opportunities. To make the most of this event, here’s everything you need to know and bring for the day.

Day of the Event:

  • Date: May 18, 2024
  • Location: Booker T. Washington High School
  • Start Time: Registration begins at 8:00 AM, but please arrive early to ensure a smooth process.
  • End Time: The event concludes at 1:00 PM.

What to Bring:

  • Cleats: Suitable for grass and turf as drills will take place on different surfaces.
  • Athletic Shoes: For running drills and any non-cleat suitable activities.
  • Water Bottle: Stay hydrated! Refill stations will be available throughout the venue.
  • Photo ID: For registration verification purposes.
  • Health & Consent Forms: If not already submitted online, please bring signed copies.

What We Provide:

  • Camp Gear: Each registered participant will receive a set of camp clothes at check-in. This includes a t-shirt and shorts which you will change into for the drills.
  • Food: We will provide snacks and a boxed meal at the conclusion of the event. If you have specific dietary restrictions, please let us know in advance.
  • Equipment: All necessary sporting equipment for the drills will be provided. However, personal gear like gloves or specific athletic wear should be brought if needed.
